In this article, we will discuss the video overlay function in Yondo and how to use it.
What is an Overlay
A video overlay is an image or animation that you can add to your videos which will appear on the bottom of the video screen over the video. These images can be used as titles within your videos or even as a clickable call to action.
How Do I Add an Overlay
To add an overlay, you will need to navigate to your Video Library dashboard. There you will click on the video you would like to add the overlay on, to bring up the Edit Video window.
Next click on the Overlay tab.
The Overlay screen will appear where you will see your overlays. You can also add an overlay to your video and preview the video with the overlays on this screen as well.
Click '+Add Overlay' to make the Overlay Setup window appear.
Give your overlay a Name for your own reference.
Choose an Image in JPEG, PNG, or even an animated GIF that supports transparency, to appear on your video. This image should have an aspect ratio of 16 x 3, though the preferred upload size is 1920 x 360 pixels.
Once your image has been loaded you can add a Link URL to make the image clickable and direct your customers. You can also leave this field blank if you do not want to make the overlay clickable.
Next choose when you would like the overlay to appear in your video, by adding the time in the video you would like your video overlay to appear in the Start Time field. Then choose the End Time or when the overlay should disappear.
Please note that this time should be kept in seconds. For example, if you would like your video overlay to appear at 1:30 of your video, enter 90 (seconds) in the Start Time.
You can also choose to simply show the overlay when the video is paused rather than giving it a start and end time. This can be done by clicking the 'Show When Paused' toggle switch to green.
Lastly, click 'Save' to save your overlay.
You can preview your video with your overlays by clicking the '+Preview video with overlays'.
Remember to click 'Save Changes' one more time in your Edit Video screen to save your overlays to your video.
How Do I Remove an Overlay?
To remove an overlay, simply find the overlay you would like to remove and click on the three dots to the right of the overlay.
Click remove in the dropdown and the overlay will be deleted.
